Cochran House was built in the early 1860s. The historical paperwork shows that it was sold as a “spec” house. George M. Cochran purchased the house and had 7 daughters. He was a professor at Augusta Female Seminary (now Mary Baldwin University) and all 7 of his daughters attended school there. The youngest 3 never married and the last to pass away left the house to the school. Many alumnae know this as the biology building.
